3 DIY Actions to Take to Make Your Kitchen Look Brand New – Part 3

Welcome back to my 3 part kitchen DIY process.

We’ve talked talked about cabinets and backsplash, now we’re going to talk about countertops.

So here’s the deal.  While this is very DIY, I actually had a friend, Jaime Questelle, come over and DIY (er DIHerself) mine for me.  I had a lot going on and I just wanted it done, plus I knew she could do a way better job than I did with the texturizing look.  I am 1000% pleased with the work she did!  I HIGHLY recommend her to anyone looking in our area!  Since I did not do this myself, I’m just going to post some pictures and explain very briefly what she did.

  1. Prime the counters.
  2. I wanted a white/black/gray look to mine, so I’m sure the next steps were all catered to that.  Paint the base coat of black.
  3. She used a sponge to “stamp” the white and some gray (I think) back on for the textured look.  This can be done to any extent depending on how dark or light you want your counters to be.
  4. Put 3 coats of Polycrylic on to finish up.

After every step she waited around 24 hours and then came back to complete the next step.  This was about a 5 day process for us.  I still get smile on my face when I walk in the kitchen and see them.  Check out all of the progress pictures below!

So that’s it!  3 simple DIY actions to take to transform your kitchen.  I am not artsy or super crafty, but I can do anything with instructions.  If I can do this, so can you…I PROMISE!!

I hope you have found these steps helpful and easy.  I also hope it helps you find the confidence to jump in and revamp your kitchen.  You don’t have to spend thousands of dollars on a new kitchen to make it look totally new!
